Hunger Games: Catching Fire May be Setting Records
While I was never a big fan of the Hunger Games I did sort of enjoy the first movie. I don't find it that compelling to read the books, or care all that much about it, but I did like the first film during a weekend where I was somewhat depressed. Only time I wouldn't consider it foolish I expect.
Black Friday arrived at the box office this Thanksgiving weekend with moviegoers showing sustained appetite for leftovers. In its second weekend in theaters, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is on a course to not only come in first; it may score one of the most robust opening weekends in movie history.
The sci-fi sequel to 2012’s “The Hunger Games,” “Catching Fire” hauled in $31.2 million Friday, putting it in position to smash the five-day Thanksgiving holiday record -- of $82 million held by “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” -- with a projected $113 million gross.

Total Recall Remake wasn't too bad
While the original Total Recall was quite cheesy, I still was a big fan. I quoted the movie in general conversation quite a bit back int he day. Saying things like: "I want a ticket to MArs!", and of course my favorite: "What aobut the guy that got lobotomized? Did he get a refund?".
So I finally rolled up in my bed warmer and watched the remake. While it wasn't even close to as cheesy as the original, it wasn't too bad. They really amped up the effects and the action, and took out a lot of the story. It kept some of the strange scenes from the original in some form of course. Mainly the iconic 3 breasted woman scene, and part of when Arnold went through the weapon detectors. The "2 Week, 2 weeks, 2 weeks" lady I think was the exact same one as they had in the original. She looked identical. Strangely, she was more of a decoy in this one and if you saw the original it kind of throws you off. You expect it to be the same, but she isn't. Anyways, not too bad, but not great. Decent action flick, better looking women, and Quaid isn't such a meathead that Arnold was.

3 JD Salinger Unreleased Stories Leak Online
Mysteriously, I book sold on Ebay that was unauthorized claims to contain 3 short stories from the late author JD Salinger. The reclusive Salinger lived as mysteriously as the stories that found themselves on sale on Ebay. Living in isolation around his fireplace mantel shelf rather than being out in the public eye.
It was difficult to trace the origin of the collection called "Three Stories," with the only known copies of the stories existing in research libraries at the University of Texas and Princeton University, it said.
The stories are "The Ocean Full of Bowling Balls," "Paula," and "Birthday Boy."
The book appears to be one of those in a 25-copy compilation of the stories privately printed without Salinger's permission in London in 1999. The stories leaked on the Internet appeared as a "pdf" scan of that book, the New York Times said in its online edition.

Why iOS Games are So Terrible
When I first got my iPod Touch however many years ago it was now I had a $25 iTunes gift card. Since obviously music doesn't cost that much *anything* I ended up spending all of it on game apps. Bejeweled, Angry Birds, Jetpack Joyride, and several others that are just popular for a week, go on sale, and then everyone realizes they are the same crap.
iOS games are truly to the point where I don't want to play them, or bother with them anymore. They are saturated with copy after copy of about 5 games that made it and nothing original. Same old puzzle games mixed around to copy Angry Birds in some way, TONS and I mean TONS of Tower Defense games, and of course total crap based on nothing more than something like a popular Youtube video.
Next in line another game based on some sort of TV show just thrown together to make a few bucks because the show is popular. This time it is Duck Dynasty. Have a read about this utter piece of rubbish:
I'm sure several people will need a personal injury attorney in san diego after realizing they paid anything for such a piece of garbage. Of course they probably do it every single day on there and facepalm so often that they have a dent in their forehead. Quit buying this trash. Make these hacks earn their money and give games worth buying you fools.

The game, available at Apple's App Store for iPhone (99 cents) and iPad ($1.99), promises to transform players from "yuppies into rednecks" by mimicking the daily rituals of Louisiana's Robertson clan, proprietors of the Duck Commander business.
Players hunt squirrels and ducks, blow up beaver dams, toss doughnuts into Uncle Si's mouth and compete in other challenges. At each stage, they can progress from clean-shaven "yuppie" avatars, complete with Bluetooth headsets, to long-bearded backwoods boys with bandannas and sunglasses. source

Chris Brown Claims He Lost His Virginity at....8
Yeah...I'm guessing he is either lying, or just plain not right in the head. Neither of which would surprise anyone. Odds of him being able to ...perform at 8 are incredibly unrealistic. He was certainly molested if he had any sort of sexual contact at that age, but he certainly didn't lose his virginity in any real sense.
Among the big revelations of his new profile in The Guardian is Brown's claim that he was just eight when he lost his virginity to a girl who was 14 or 15 at the time. That most certainly is being molested. I'm sure this article says a lot more about why he is the way he is now as well. It's about him and Rihanna and all that went down. If you let him talk long enough he'll probably claim that he needs immigration lawyers too.

Miley Cyrus Loses Vogue Cover after VMA Performance
What's the deal with so many uptight people about her VMA performance? Who cares? Apparently a lot of people including the editor-in-chief Anna Wintour of Vogue who was supposed to give her the December cover as the next young fashion model. Bleh
Just seems rather silly to me that an adult acting like a sexual being on stage is all of a sudden a negative. It's not like this hasn't been a mainstay of people like Madonna ever since their early 20s. Madonna had just as ridiculous stage shows as Miley did at the VMAs, yet she is the one getting all the negative press? People acting like she should go to http://www.passports.com/ and get out of the country. Asinine. Funny thing is that all these whiners are just giving her all kinds of press. She is talked about daily still for something that happened over 2 weeks ago. At least she was sane enough not to go on an apology tour.

Marshall 2061x 20W Reissue
If you want to go back to the late 1960s and early 1970s of rocking you might want to check out the reissues of some of the Marshall product lines. Specifically the marshall 2061x at guitar center. This glorious old school amp is a hand-wired reissue of the model 2061, produced from 1967 to 1973. With 20W of power, it churned out golden crunchy tones with depth and character. Giving you sounds that you just can't get with the newest amps of today. At least not the real sound. You may be able to come close with a similar sound, but nothing like this, and certainly you won't have the classic style and look of one of these.
They are Still Making Bourne Movies?
I'm quite sure that the last Bourne movie I saw was the 3rd one. The 4th I don't remember coming out, and I'm not even sure if Matt Damon was in it. It appears though that the FIFTH in the series is set to be made now with Jeremy Renner being back (so I guess he was the star in the last one? lol).
It was just announced that Universal Pictures will be doing a 5th installment in the Bourne series, this one to star Jeremy as Aaron Cross again. I suppose I should go watch the 4th one since I wasn't exactly a critic of the first 3. For action movies the Bourne series is pretty high octane and thrilling to watch. Although I don't particularly care for true action movies that often, the Bourne series at least left me feeling satisfied after leaving the theater. Something that most action movies fail to do due to their poor stories and lack of acting.
While I loved all the stupid Arnold and Sly movies as a kid, I can see just how awful they are now seeing them again. They are so bad that I still like them though. Just in a different way. You would think some of the directors of the action genre would be looking for requirements for bankruptcy, but we all know that Americans are easily entertained. Action movies and terrible comedies rule the movie going experience for those that don't want to think. Sadly, it is rare that either live up to the laughs, or the action they promise, but sometimes we get lucky.

Batman to Appear in Next Man of Steel Movie
At Comi-Con this year it was revealed that the sequel to Man of Steel will include Batman. Not as a friend, however. Batman and Superman will be at odds as they are in the Dark Knight comic book series. Henry Cavill is expected to play Superman once again, but no announcement has been made about who is going to take on the role of Batman. It was teased that the 1980 comic Dark Knight Returns will have a role as part of the story, however.
After announcing the plan to bring the two superheroes together, Snyder issued a statement via Warner Bros. saying the two would be fighting each other, and conceded this might surprise some.
"Let's face it, it's beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest superheroes in the world," said Snyder, who has been confirmed as director of the as-yet unnamed sequel.
I'm sure all Batman's gadgets like somehting with a de-sta-co clamp will be no match for Superman. After announcing the plan to bring the two superheroes together, Snyder issued a statement via Warner Bros. saying the two would be fighting each other, and conceded this might surprise some.

The endless debate about a fight with the two will continue as we know all too well that neither is going to end up finished for good.
This continues the "dark" portrayals of the super heroes we have seen in the past decade. The movie is expected to be out in 2015 with Christopher Nolan involved as well. Possibly being some sort of Justice League movie in the future planned too.

Bates Motel and Hannibal from Promising to SNorefest
Hannibal and Bates Motel this year as part of my weekly TV queue. While they both started out promising, neither has finished their seasons at a point where I am looking forward to season 2.
Bates Motel is much worse of course. IT simply is just plain cheeseball and stupid. The forced conflict between the brothers and the high school beauty queen nearly made me turn it off during the last couple episodes. I'd rather browse online for a jandy led pool light. I didn't even care what happened after this point much less wanted to watch next season.
Hannibal still has a little bit more intrigue. IT certainly has better dialogue and the stories are of more interest. IT finsihed the season lazily, but there is still some intrigue left to it I guess. I will probably begin Season 2, but it isn't my next great show to watch at all.

Arrested Development Almost Back (May 26, 2013)
When I saw the article about the show coming back for 15 episodes before the movie I went back and watched the series again. I was lucky enough to be one of the few people that watched it when it was actually on the air, and like everyone else couldn't understand how the show couldn't get the ratings. I don't even consider it to be that bizarre, or different that people wouldn't "get it". It's not like the show didn't have plenty of potty humor in it for the dummies out there.
Anyways, as Netflix continues to get into the "television" business, they will be the hosts of the 15 episode season that will precede the movie starting on May 26. From what I read in EW, the episodes will basically just be set up in a way where Michael appears in all of them as we catch up with each of the characters to get us ready for the movie. Hopefuly there is an episode with Buster and Michael where they find table skirts and hide under a table the entire episode.

Metal Singer Arrested in Murder For Hire Plot
If you watch Investigation Discovery, like just about everyone does I imagine since there are about 1500 different shows covering the same murders over and over, and every channel including the Oprah's Network shows some form of them, you have heard this plot before. Usually it isn't someone that is a "celebrity" of sorts, however. While chilling with his humidor accessories he may just have created a plot to hire a murderer.
As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis was arrested Tuesday (May 7) after allegedly soliciting an undercover police officer to have his estranged wife killed.
According to Reuters, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department learned that Lambesis sought an accomplice to kill his wife, and he was taken into custody in Oceanside, California, after reaching out to the detective.
"The information came to us late last week," San Diego County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Jan Caldwell told Reuters. "We acted quickly on it. I believe that we averted a great tragedy."
Lambesis has said he considers himself to be a Christian and acknowledges that he finds inspiration for lyrical content from biblical texts. He is incredibly prolific, having released eight albums with As I Lay Dying between 2001 and 2012, as well as five releases via his solo side project Austrian Death Machine, where he sings and performs on all instruments. He also produced 11 albums for other artists and is part owner of Lambesis Studios.

Snare Drum Kits
When looking for the top selling snare drum kit, I came to quite a few that are considered the "best", or "most Popular", but I eventually settled on one that I think will serve my uses (A gift. I certainly don't have the drummer's rhythm...lol). A snare drum kit at guitar center is really where I have gone for all my music stuff lately simply because i have found what I needed every time I compared. Quite the selection of drum kits and of course guitar stuff. Just plain has the drum kit I was looking for and it is already annoying the parents of my cousin as we speak. ;)
Fox Pulls Recent Family Guy Episode from website depicting Boston Marathon Deaths
This is much more of a coincidence that this episode was made, and not made in direct relation to the Boston MArathon tragedy yesterday. It already aired before the marathon and isn't in any way related to the tragedy.
In the episode, protagonist Peter Griffin is asked by sports announcer Bob Costas about his performance at the marathon. A flashback shows Peter mowing down runners with his car.
“I’ll tell ya, Bob, I just got in my car and drove it,” Griffin says. “And when there was a guy in my way, I killed him.”
Later, Peter befriends a terrorist who, unbeknownst to him, is plotting to blow up a bridge. When Peter dials a cellphone the friend has given him, explosions and screams are heard. On some websites, an edited clip has been circulating that fuses the two scenes, making it seem — incorrectly — as if the explosion was at the marathon. Some commenters have implied that the show “predicted” the bombings.
While it is very much inappropriate for the timing, I still don't claim to have anything against joking about tragedies. It's not to me to decide how people deal with tragedy. Many, like myself, tednd to deal with it very soon after with humor rather than ongoing depression. I am a person that suffers with depression so being able to laugh as much as I can is absolutely necessary. Those that don't have depression wouldn't understand. I suppose they need to feel those negative emotions sometimes. I, on the other hand, try to feel thmem as littl eas possible since it is part of my everyday life already.

Hackers Claim to Post Celebrity Financial Data
Some "Russian" hackers are digging into the past of some celebrities all the way up to Mrs. Obama and Vice President Joe Biden it appears. Besides the political ones there are claims to have hacked into Jay-z, Mel Gibson, and other A-listers. This would make anyone collapse on their whiteboard stand.
A website that supposedly originated in Russia has posted what it claims is personal and financial information of several celebrities, law-enforcement officials and first lady Michelle Obama—documents whose authenticity the Federal Bureau of Investigation said it was working to verify.
The site features what it says are past home addresses and links to the credit histories of Mrs. Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, as well as Social Security numbers for others, such as singer Beyonce and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. FBI Director Robert Mueller, Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, actor Mel Gibson and Paris Hilton also had apparently private information posted to the site.

I know a lot of people hate the Biebs, but wow...
OF course, the way that he is always putting out fake stories trying to get publicity can you really believe any of these stories? This one supposedly has some audio from it though. I'm not sure if these guys planned to use pneumatic sensor, but it sounds like they certainly were obsessed.
This is a follow up on a story from December in which some prison inmates hated Justin Bieber so much that they wanted to have him killed. Today they released more info on the plot in which they wanted to have him castrated.

Decided to Watch 'Carnivale' Finally
I never really knew what Carnivale was all about. Silly me I actually thought because of the way it is spelled that it was going to be some sort of Moulin Rouge musical or some nonsense. I never bothered to look into it. I knew it ended after 2 seasons and was cancelled so that left me even more reason to avoid it. Rather read the instruction booklet to my Security Software most of the time when I know the show doesn't actually end.
Then I heard a couple people talking about it one day and saying that it had some sci-fi/fantasy and battles of good vs. evil, heaven and hell, etc. Totally not what I was expecting obviously.
So I just finished season 1 today and I must say that this is one of the slowest moving shows that I have ever seen. That doesn't mean I didn't think it was great, however. I loved the first season immensely. The characters and their stories. The strange alternate world they live in with just enough from the real world to give it that cyberpunk sort of thing.
The problem? I know that it ends early. After season 2. Season 1 had a bit of a cliffhanger in it. Not a huge one that I couldn't live on without finding out what happens, but if season 2 ends this way as well I might be quite upset. I'm told that it digs a bit deeper and moves along at a faster clip though so hopefully I am not left totally wanting at the end of this unfinished show.

Dexter Now on During the Summer
In very recent news it appears that the possible final season of America's favorite serial killer, Dexter will be on this summer instead of the usual fall/winter schedule. Apparently it will start Season 8 on June 29th to try and split up their biggest shows of Dexter and Homeland and use them as lead ins to their new "hits".
While there has been no word if Season 8 will be the end of the line, many fans speculate that it will. The show has certainly moved into mediocre to terrible for at least the last 3 seasons so the sooner the better so I can quit watching it. I find the kuat bike racks on my car more interesting to view. *cough*
Yes...I think it sucks and I still watch it. Why? I started watching it from the very first episode when it first aired. The premise was awesome and I was on board from the get go. Most people never even heard of it until if you remember they showed a really censored version of season 1 on CBS. I think it ran durin gthe summer late night. Obviously it had to cut some parts out as it had cursing and I'm sure some nudity on Showtime.
So...yes I need to see how it ends no matter how done with the show I am and I will laugh at it and tell people how much it sucks the whole time!
While there has been no word if Season 8 will be the end of the line, many fans speculate that it will. The show has certainly moved into mediocre to terrible for at least the last 3 seasons so the sooner the better so I can quit watching it. Save Your Monopoly Token
After over 80 years the game of Monopoly is going to be getting rid of 2 of the iconic game tokens to make room for 2 new and more current tokens. A global vote is being held on Facebook here to save your favorite token, or to vote on which ones you want to go away. Currently (pretty much the 2 I expected it to be) the iron and the wheelbarrow are losing the battle.
Of course there are a lot of people wondering why they would do such a thing. Not just a democratic vote for a game that rewards being a sole dictator, but changing a classic. A business mogul game without all the headaches of finding Business Credit and Capital, while still being able to destroy the lives of family and friends. Obvious answer is money. This has and will give them a ton of press, and surely the Monopoly fanatics will have to go out and buy a "new" edition to keep up to date.
The funny thing is that we all know there will still be a "classic" version on the shelves with all the old pieces no matter what new ones are introduced. In fact, you have to wonder why they need to take any out in the first place right? I mean is it that big a deal just to toss 2 new pieces in the box and keep all the old ones? That makes too much sense of course. Then they couldn't sell a "classic" version as well!
