Britney Spears was charged Friday with misdemeanor counts of hit and run and driving without a valid license after she allegedly smashed her car into another in a parking lot in August, prosecutors said.
If convicted, the singer could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine for each count, said Nick Velasquez, spokesman for the city attorney’s office.
Messages left with Spears’ attorneys were not immediately returned from their office desks.
The accident occurred Aug. 6, Velasquez said.
Spears, 25, was filmed by paparazzi that day steering her car into another vehicle as she tried to turn into a spot in a Studio City parking lot. After assessing the damage to her own car only, she was shown on paparazzi video walking away. full story

George Clooney injured in motorcycle accident
George Clooney suffered a broken rib in New Jersey on Friday when a car collided with the motorcycle he was riding, the actor’s spokesman said.
The 46-year-old actor was treated at Palisades Medical Center in Palisades, N.J. and released, spokesman Stan Rosenfield said in a statement.
Clooney’s passenger, Sarah Larson, suffered a broken foot.
Clooney was not reported to be intoxicated. Just a random accident, kind of like if the NCAA will actually put in some sort of NCAA Tournament or playoff system for college football.

Shakira rests hips to study at UCLA
Taking some time out of the lights to get a bit of an education is admirable I guess.
Shakira may get high grades in singing and swiveling her hips, but what about ancient Western history?
For the past month, the Colombian pop star has been taking a class at the University of California, Los Angeles, called "Introduction to Western Civilization: Ancient Civilizations from Prehistory to Circa A.D. 843."
"She went when she finished her tour, for the summer," Shakira's manager Fifi Kurzman told The Associated Press. more
