'Hobbit' Earns $13 Million for Midnight Shows on Thursday

People lined up outside the crowd control rope barriers to get in for the midnight showing of "The Hobbit: An unexpected Journey" Thursday to rack up over $13 million for the show. Overseas showings earned around $27 million.

Good for a 3 hour movie at this time of day, but it didn't crack the top 10 of midnight releases. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" is the no. 1 spot holder with over $45 million for this type of show. The rest includes two other "Potter" pictures, four "Twilight" sequels, "The Dark Knight Rises," "The Hunger Games" and "The Avengers."
