Man gets $256 for nuisance text messages

$256? That's it? I suppose something is better than nothing, but I'd be pretty damned annoyed if I was getting text messges constantly. I get enough now as it is and just THOSE are annoying. Come to think of it I think I am going to call my cell phone company and get them turned off. Damn stalkers.

BEIJING - A court has ordered a Chinese television production company to pay damages to a man who received more than 3,000 nuisance messages after his mobile phone number was used in a police TV drama.

The court said the Runshi Rongguang Film Production Co. should have made sure the number was not in use before having a villain say it aloud on-screen, China's official Xinhua News Agency reported.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A post office in upstate New York was evacuated as Secret Service agents and the local bomb squad responded to a suspicious package addressed to former U.S. president Bill Clinton.

The cause of all the fuss? A box of cookies. Officials at the New Castle Post Office found a "suspicious" package addressed to the former president Thursday, said Secret Service spokeswoman Kim Bruce. An incorrect address for the home of the former president and his wife, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, roused suspicions, Bruce told the Journal News newspaper.

Man files suit to ease process of taking wife's name

But Buday was stunned to learn that he couldn’t simply become Mike Bijon when they married in 2005.

As in most other states, that would require some bureaucratic paperwork well beyond what a woman must go through to change her name when marrying.

WAUKESHA, Wis. - A mail carrier had a blood-alcohol level nearly four times the legal limit when he was arrested for driving his delivery truck into oncoming traffic and crashing into a sign, police said.

Thomas Lahiff was incoherent Friday when he returned to the post office, where he was arrested about an hour after the crash, Police Capt. Mike Babe said. He said tests showed the 46-year-old's blood-alcohol level was 0.31 percent.

I can feel for this guy. When I used be a Power Seller on looked through the other auctions fairly often. At one point I had been robbed and found a whole box of goodies for sale on Ebay that the crook had taken. Danial Rangkar, 25, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday, a day after he was arrested. Operating under the name, "nydannysjewelry," he is accused of trying to sell dozens of other electronic items, including laptop computers and iPods.
