Looks Like a Much Needed Video Appearance Upgrade on Youtube this week

After years of using their standard Youtube player, that many have copied since inception Youtube hasn't really changed the look of it over the years. The colors at least anyways with the light gray and red everything else.

Logging on earlier this week I noticed that all the video players are now a black color on the borders and much more sleek than they once were. A refreshing change I must say. An actual "improvement" that makes some sense compared to all the other random improvements they toss out every few months. Like the overly confusing new search system they use, or just the fact that they haven't improved the comments on videos in years. They still are more of a hassle to read on videos with tons of comments than they are worth.

While the new video look is on the Youtube site you can see, I have noticed that it hasn't transferred to embedded videos just yet, although they have changed those too. They now allow you to set the pixel width on embedded videos manually so they don't stretch off the page on places like a golf pda gps...blog posts. :)

Harry Potter World Cup Final Four; No Harry Potter!

Maybe not shocking to most HP fans, but I was a little bit surprised tthat Harry himself did not make the cut of the Final Four in MTV.com's Harry Potter World Cup. Who knocked him off? His most hated professor of course. The sneaky, and not really that bad a guy, Severus Snape.

The Final Four of the tournament has a couple of characters everyone should expect in Ron and Hermione. The other of the foursome is Harry's godfather, Sirius Black. Ron and Hermione will probably make their way to the Finals and face off against each other I predict since they don't face off this round being #1 seeds. Not sure if you get anything like reward cards for getting the bracket right, but maybe you do I haven't looked at the rules.

My personal favorite characters are Harry as #1. I just like how he put up with so much crap from the Dursley's and still came out without being such a bad guy. Fred and George are my favorite comic relief. The book version of Dembeldore is also one of my favorites since he is quite funny himself in the books. In the movies the headmaster is much too serious, and not at all like his character in the book.

Transformers 3 On Pace for $1 Billion at the Box Office Worldwide

To think that a movie where cliches of dialogue and everything being animated could pull in $1 Billion at the box office I guess I just have to remember what sells. Action flicks in the U.S. are the bread and butter of the summer movie going season I suppose so I shouldn't be surprised that every summer something as low brow as one of these movies is taking the top spot at the box office 2 weeks in a row. It may not be the best movie out right now, but it certainly has the box office draw to make more money than any of the other ones.

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" easily held on to first place, making another $47 million this week. That number represents a 52% decline from last weekend and gives "Dark of the Moon" a 12-day total of $261 million. The original "Transformers" had earned $212.3 million at the same point, while "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" had pulled in a stronger $293.4 million. What a disappointment I'm sure.

While not blowing anything up and being done with a computer for most of the characters, R Rated comedies are still doing well this summer like they always do. "Horrible Bosses" finished the weekend in second place with a robust $28.1 million debut, continuing this summer's streak of successful R-rated comedies.

The Warner Brothers film had a healthy $9,247 per-theater average, and it opened within the range of "Bridesmaids" and "Bad Teacher," (which looks horrible to me even though Heather Graham is still hot and in no need of diet pills yet) which started with $26.3 million and $31.6 million, respectively.
