Angels and Demons didn't get to the level of it's predecessor, The Da Vinci Code, but it still was good enough to win the weekly box office title. It opened with a $48 Million showing, the sixth best opening of the year. Star Trek dropped to #2 overall, but still raked in $43 Million for the weekend and $147.6 Million so far. X-Men Origins: Wolverine fell to #3 with $14.8 Million, and $151.1 million total in its first 2 weeks.
But "The Da Vinci Code" opened to $77 million in 2006 on its way to a domestic haul of $217.5 million. The sequel should pass the $150 million mark, said Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution at the Sony Corp unit. Onlky saw the Da Vinci Code on my LCD TV and not at the theater. Probably won't chip in for this one either.
