Anna Nicole's autopsy to be released Monday

Anna Nicole Smith's autopsy report will be released Monday, more than six weeks after the former Playboy Playmate died, authorities said Thursday. The medical examiner for Broward County, Dr. Joshua Perper, and Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger said they will hold a joint news conference to discuss the cause of death.

Smith was found Feb. 8 in her hotel room at a tribal casino in Hollywood, Fla. An initial autopsy report showed no immediate indication of a drug overdose and no sign of major external injuries on the 39-year-old reality TV star.

Perper delayed the release of the full autopsy report after police gave him additional evidence, though authorities have not said what that is.

Prosecutors have said they are not treating the case as a homicide.

Move Your Clocks A Head One Hour

Kate Winslet wins damages over diet story

Kate Winslet was awarded substantial libel damages Friday after a British magazine wrongly stated that she had visited a diet doctor.

The 31-year-old actress, known for her criticism of excessive dieting, wasn’t at London’s High Court for the hearing on an article published last month by women’s magazine Grazia.

Winslet’s lawyer, Rachel Atkins, said the story wrongly stated that Winslet had sought the help of California-based Chinese herbalist Yi Pan for her weight, despite vowing not to bow to Hollywood pressure on actresses to be skinny.

New evidence in Anna Nicole Smith case

An autopsy report expected to detail how Anna Nicole Smith died has been delayed because police have turned over new evidence, the Broward County medical examiner said Thursday.

The medical examiner, Dr. Joshua Perper, said the autopsy tests have been completed and were supposed to be released later this week. But the Seminole Police provided him with new evidence, he said.

Gary Bitner, a spokesman for the Seminole Tribe and its police department, said the evidence provided by the tribe was turned over promptly. Neither Bitner nor Perper would say what the evidence was.
